Story of the Door Reaction
A memorable moment in the chapter we recently read was when the unknown, ambiguous man, later identified as Mr. Hyde, trampled over a juvenile girl, and completely ignored her shrieks of pain. The pre-reading article I read was on good and evil. This event is a clear demonstration of how evil lurks everywhere on the Earth. Only someone evil and nefarious would have the audacity to ignore a young girl's screams of pain right after bulldozing her to the ground. Although he later came back (which he only did because he was forced to), his actions clearing proved the kind of wretched character he is portrayed as. Because this scene is one of the first of the novella, the theme has not developed just yet, however this may hint at some motifs. Throughout the book, doctors are present, whether it is Dr. Jekyll, Dr. Lanyon or whoever. As soon as Hyde returns to the girl during the scene, a doctor and the girls family suddenly appears. Soon after, the reader meets Dr. Lanyon, Dr. Jekyll's old college friend. Ergo, it is safe to infer that doctors will be a remaining motif throughout the story.

i agree with your point when you state that evil lurks all over on earth. have you ever been walking down the street maybe in the city and all of a sudden you see some steal a pocket book or bump someone and just walk by as they fall to the ground. This is just like Mr. Hyde and also connects to the story and your quote. This is why i agree with your statement
ReplyDeleteI agree with your point your are making, that the memorable moment would be finding out who is mr hyde finding out his indentity. Also the article good and evil it does really connect to that chapter we had read and found out about mr hyde, as you said its a clear demonstration of how evil lurks everywhere on earth. Also you said only someone evil could ignore a young girl screaming.
ReplyDeleteI also agree that evil is everywhere wether its just criminals or world hunger there is evil everywhere and it cant be ignored. It is terrible that hyde would just trample the girl and ignore her screams hes a terrible person and evil and no man should ever do such a thing. I think this whole evil mr hyde connects with the story somehow and it will probably tie into the future events.
